We have finally got our sign shops' web site up and running!  We started with version 1.0 of Microsofts' Community Starter Kit added a simple web log module, a product module, an email contact form and Yahoo! Maps Driving directions. We also added multiple column support for web site sections. Then I noticed how badly designed the CSK was from a search engine optimization standpoint.  While checking the search engine results I found that MSN had indexed about 150 pages of my new web site. Which would be great were not for the fact there was only about 30 - 40 pages in the entire site.  So we did a little work in the SEO department to improve the keyword selection and including better instructions for the search engine spiders as to which pages it should include in it's index and which pages it should ignore.

We then added several modifications from Doug Redd and Jody ????.  I would like to give a special thanks to both of you and whole bunch of people whose names I can't remember for your help with this project.

Then we upgraded to Visual Studio 2005 and I decided to upgrade the Community Starter Kit to a VS 2005 project.  After finally getting the upgrade done I tried hosting the starter kit on one of our Windows 2003 servers and had a problem getting both the static images and the images hosted in the SQL database to show up.  If you setup the correct script mappings for the .gif and .jpg images the only the images from the DB would show up. No static images would be visible.  If you removed the script mappings then the opposite would occur.  The solution I came up with was to install the correct script mappings and convert the /admin/images,  /community/common/images, and several other static image directories into an application within IIS and remove the script mappings from these static image directories. Problems solved, for now.
